I make complicated things look simple.

I'm Dan, the designer behind Nutype Creative. Fifteen years in and I still get the same buzz from a blank artboard as I did on day one. That time has been spent across branding, advertising, illustration and motion, which means I'm rarely the person who can only take a job so far. I think it through, then I build it.

I'm nosey about how businesses work. Give me a sector I don't know yet, whether that's freight routes, case management or the margins on a tabletop games shop, and I'll go and learn it. Not to show off, just because you can't make something simple until you understand it, and making things simple is the job. The businesses I meet usually aren't unclear because they have nothing to say. They're unclear because they have too much.

Nutype exists because I do do it all. The identity, the campaign and the thirty second explainer all come out of the same head, sound like the same brand, and land with you as tidy, organised files you can genuinely own.

Outside of work I'm usually painting miniatures at a scale that tests anyone's patience, drawing with my two boys, or being soundly beaten at a playstation game by my partner Paula. Same instinct as the day job, really. Sit down with something fiddly and keep going until it looks right.
